Job Title: Passenger Van Driver and Attendant – Special Needs

Employment Type: Full-Time and Part-Time

Compensation:

  • Dispatchers: $18/hr
  • Drivers with minimum qualifications: $18/hr
  • Drivers with Basic Life Support certification: $19/hr
  • Drivers with EMT certification: $20/hr
  • Drivers with medical assistant certification: $21/hr

Location: Positions available anywhere in the valley, with drivers keeping the van at home if possible. Interviews will be conducted at our office in Goodyear.

Job Description:

As a Passenger Van Driver and/or Attendant – Special Needs, you will play a crucial role in providing medical and behavioral supervision to passengers while in transport. You will assist individuals with mobility challenges, including those using walkers, wheelchairs, or stretchers/gurneys. At Wheels on Wheels, we prioritize the well-being of our passengers, ensuring a safe and comfortable transportation experience.

Job Duties:

  • Represent the company’s values at all times.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitize the vehicle between passengers.
  • Assist all passengers in boarding and disembarking using steps, ramps, or lifts.
  • Offer assistance with personal items and equipment.
  • Escort passengers to their destination and provide door-to-door service every time.
  • Practice safe lifting and moving techniques.
  • Conduct pre and post-operation vehicle inspections.
  • Use a phone app to track trips accurately.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ driving experience in the US.
  • Valid AZ driver’s license with a clean driving record. Candidate must possess a valid AZ driver’s license, a national driving record with:
    • No more than 2 moving violations in the past 3 years
    • No Failures to Appear/ Pay (FTA/FTP) in the last 5 years
    • No suspensions in the last 5 years
    • No reckless driving or driving under the influence in the past 7 years
  • Nationwide criminal history and abuse registry check, as well as national medical and caretaker exclusions list check. DOT Physical clearance for repetitive lifting, bending, and pushing
  • Fingerprint clearance card or ability to receive one
  • Pre-employment, random, and reasonable suspicion drug screens
  • A vision check is required, as well as the ability to see and drive at night
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions, including rain and hot sun
  • Successful completion of required training modules and assessments

Training: NEMTAC Certified Trasport Specialist

  • 4 hr defensive driving
  • 2 hr first-aid and CPR
  • 2 hr Mobility securement
  • 1 hr Adult Protective Services
  • 1 hr Cultural Diversity
  • 1 hr Professional Conduct
  • 1 hr Transportation Safety
  • 1 hr FWA / HIPPA
  • 30 hrs on the job
  • Optional Training for Qualified Candidates:
    • Stretcher/gurney transportation securement and safety
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
